Tom Hancock was born in Stoke on Trent in 1988 and began playing the Cornet at  the age of 8 with the award-winning Lions Youth Brass organisation based in South Cheshire.

After progressing through the Beginner and Junior Bands, Tom was appointed Principal Cornet of Lions Youth in 2006, a position he held for two years before becoming a Tutor and later Musical Director of the Lions Junior Brass.

Tom has been a member of the Roberts Bakery Band since 2004 and was a founding member of the quintet Delta Brass Cheshire. He also appeared as a guest player on the world famous Fodens Band's recording 'A Patrons' Choice'.

Tom holds a BA (Hons) degree in Modern and International History from Staffordshire University and a Masters degree in Modern British History from The University of Manchester. His theses focused on the changing culture of the British brass band; specifically its relationship with industry and the working-class.

As a private brass tutor and freelance musician with a growing reputation in Cheshire and North Staffordshire, and following notable successes with the Lions Juniors at Newcastle-under-Lyme Festival and Whiston Festival of Brass, Tom was delighted to accept the position of Musical Director with Audley Brass in August 2014.
